A presentation box for an irregular trophy
A shaped metal object called for a box designed around its outline rather than a standard insert.
The brief
The original brief involved an irregular metal trophy for a gift and souvenir business. A conventional rectangular cavity would not give the object either secure support or a deliberate reveal.
The approach
The project explored a wooden box with two hinged doors. A green background, gold-toned lettering and a soft velvet-covered EVA insert were used to connect the presentation to the object and its destination.
Design decisions
- Let the trophy profile determine the interior
- Open the case from both sides for a centered reveal
- Use a fitted insert to support the metal object
